SUPERVALU: Illuminating Green Possibilities

SUPERVALU grocery chains have built more than just a green culture, they've illuminated a greener future for their company.

Since 2000 they've invested more than $100 million on energy projects, saving over 400 million killowatts of energy per year. The chain is focused on reducing its landfill waste.   SUPERVALU is piloting green roofing projects, composting programs, more efficient ladnscape irrigation, fuel cell technology, LED lighting of all applications and solar powered lighting. Thier St. Paul, MN Cub Foods was the first store in the country to obtain gold-level certification from the EPA GreenChill Advanced Refrigeration Partnership.

These initiatives have netted a sizable reduction in the company's carbon footprint all while cutting costs. Hear how they've done it and what the progressive grocery empire has it's designs on for the future.
